From eggs to nugs, Denver's on a roll this weekend

With both 4/20 and Easter on Sunday, the city will be rolling in nugs and eggs and the city's favorite hybrid meal -- brunch -- will undoubted hit new highs. Whether you're out to celebrate bud or bunnies this year or just celebrating a good-weather weekend, there's plenty to do in Denver. Keep reading for a taste of what's on the culinary calendar.

Friday, March 18

Roundhouse Spirits is holding a grand opening for its Speakeasy Bar at its Boulder distillery tonight from 3 to 10 p.m. There will be tours, tastes and, of course, cocktails.

Saturday, March 19

Sunrise Ranch and the Rocky Mountain Institute of Meat are teaming up to offer the public a course in hog butchery. The class runs from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and costs $200 (including lunch and a few pounds of take-home meat per person). You can call 970-679-4200 for more information or to register for the course.

Govnr's Park is holding its fifth annual Gov's Beer Fest, featuring more than 30 breweries and 100 craft beers. Tickets are $15 and only 300 will be sold; for more information, visit the Govnr's Facebook page.

Bru Frou is yet another beer festival in the mile-high city. Tonight, Bru Frou will fill Wings over the Rockies Air and Space Museum with more than 70 of Colorado's craft breweries and restaurants to create unique beer and culinary pairings. Tickets for the event are $95 for the forty beer pairings and small plates, or $55 for the dining-only option. Check out the Bru Frou website for tickets and more information.

It may not be 4/20 quite yet but that's not stopping Central Bistro & Bar from celebrating. The Central Bistro's Smokedown Porch Party will feature a casual, picnic-style atmosphere and live music from the Mike Maurer Band. There will also be $4.20 drink special, $25 unlimited roasted hog, sides and fixin's and $9 pulled pork sandwiches.


Sunday, April 20

The second annual Nederland 4/20 Luau will feature a pig roast and live music from All Waffle Trick, Parkkview and the Alcapones. Festivities kick off at 4:20 and free shuttles will be available to ferry guests from Nederland to Rollinsville.

The Hotel Boulderado is offering an Easter brunch buffet for $52 for adults and $25 for children aged four to ten. You can even celebrate in style on the Boulderado's mezzanine for $65 while enjoying a complimentary glass of champagne.
