Burgers, potions and wine on the culinary calendar this weekend

During the first Burger Night of spring, both locations of Marczyk Fine Foods (17th Avenue and Colfax Avenue) will be cooking up Niman Ranch burgers freshly ground on-site, then serving them on fresh brioche buns with all the fixin's, including Marczyk's bacon aioli, for $8.99. You can help out those in need in our community while sampling some great wines tonight. The Raymond Wentz Foundation has been helping people who are battling cancer and in need of financial assistance since 2002; join the foundation in celebrating its past and future as it reveals its new name and brand at this year's benefit at the University of Denver's Knoebel School of Hospitality Management from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight. The event will feature wine, cocktails and beer, as well as small plates and live and silent auctions. The Fort is hosting a dinner lecture with the founder of the Paleo Diet movement, Dr. Loren Cordain, tonight. The Colorado Anti-Violence Program is launching its new campaign, 500 for $5, tonight at the Bonnie Brae Tavern's Pizza for the People event. For $10 ($5 goes directly to CAVP), you can enjoy all-you-can-eat vegan pizza and help the Colorado Anti-violence Program, a grassroots organization striving to end violence within and against the LBGTQ community. Shine Restaurant and Gathering Place is hosting its own "fairy day" to celebrate the release of a new line of bottled "Shine Potions." Fairy Day coincides with Boulder's Tulip Fairy and Elf Festival; Shine will offer free samples of Shine Potions during the event, that also features magicians, face-painting, stilt-walkers, trapeze artists, bubble-blowing and a live DJ.
