Govinda's Garden grows extended hours

When Govinda's Garden, the weekend-only vegetarian/vegan dinner buffet, re-opened last October, it quickly became insanely popular; within a half-hour of the restaurant openings its doors, the dining room was usually full. And now we're going to get even more of a good thing: another dinner and three lunch shifts have been added to the Govinda's hours of operation.

Earlier this month, Govinda's began serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. It also started serving dinner from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday nights.

The lunch service has a more limited buffet option than at dinner, when the lineup includes a different entree every night, from vegan spanakopita to quiche to curries. To sign up for a mailing list that includes the weekly menu options, visit

Govinda has been up and down for the past two decades. Good luck to the people currently running it, I love the option of dining where the food is treated ethically. People fart on and on about the religious affiliation: I have more pause eating at a right wing Christian hole. The folks at Govinda have always been kind to me and my friends and THE FOOD has almost always been a treat.

A friend of mine pointed out that it would be great if people would eat conscientously while there: don't overeat, don't waste, respect that Govinda keeps its prices low.

I'm so glad they're doing well. The current chef is the son-in-law of the former one so continuity is paramount here.
