Adelitas pours the best house margarita in town.
The infamous lime shortage -- which has been blamed on everything from a citrus disease to a Mexican drug cartel -- has hit Denver. And while it didn't seem to affect the taste of the the Best of Denver 2014's Best House Margaritas at Adelitas Cocina y Cantina(two-for-one on Monday nights!), we were talked out of a slice of citrus to go with our Tecate Light.

Get your limes here!
Just the day before, we'd had no problem getting a big wedge of lime -- delivered in a tidy shotglass -- at a far less likely location, the Hangar Bar, a classic dive that dates from 1938. Fortunately, the lime didn't.

What signs of the lime shortage have you spotted around town?

The stores are sold out because restaurant managers are getting their limes there instead of through their food supplier(cheaper at the store).

You know... Margaritaville makes lime flavored tequila. Take a swig of beer, refill with that... Good as new.

I've been getting lemons in pho restaurants I frequent around the area for the past few weeks. But as others point out you can easily get limes in the supermarkets. Next time I think I'll bring my own with me...

I got lemon wedges with my carnitas tacos and tlacoyo order from Tacos Jr. last night. The lemon juice made the pork carnitas taste more Mediterranean than Mexican.

Swing Thai has been putting lemon wedges in their pad thai rather than limes, but Whole Foods has limes for sale 5 for a $1.  Go figure.

That's right.  King Soopers also has limes in abundance, five for a dollar.  They're bigass limes, too.  You can even buy fresh limes in a lot of liquor stores, also.
