Everyone knows that veggies are an important part of a healthy diet but it's not always easy to fit them in. Cook Street School of Culinary Arts is well aware of this conundrum and is offering a class to help the vegetable-averse. The course will help particepants learn how to purchase the best fresh vegetables and how to prepare them, including how to blanch, poach, boil, roast, grill and store vegetables, including cauliflower, artichokes and green beans. Class runs from 6 to 9:30 p.m., and tuition is $99. Find out more and register at Cookstreet.com.

Einstein Bros. has declared today "Friend Appreciation Day" and is offering buy-one-get one-free Applewood Bacon & Cheddar Egg Sandwiches so that customers can enjoy one and give the other to a friend. Make friends from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

Thursday, May 1

La Biblioteca is hosting its Meet the Maker night for the month of May, featuring Cabrito Tequila. The restaurant's Meet the Maker series allows guests the opportunity to meet the makers of many different tequilas, learn more about tequilas and, of course taste the tequilas on the first Thursday of every month. You can meet the makers of Cabrito from 6 to 8 p.m.; all tastes are $5.

Friday, May 2

If you can't wait until late summer to try out Jeff Osaka's ramen at his planned new restaurant, Osaka Ramen, you have a chance to sample his noodles tonight. Osaka will be part of a pop-up dinner at Berkeley Supply Company, at 4405 West 43rd Avenue, where he will be selling 100 bowls of his Tonkotsu Ramen for just $5 a bowl. All proceeds from the pop-up will go to Project Angel Heart. Osaka will start serving up the soup at 7 p.m. and when the 100 bowls are gone, they're gone, so get there early.
