Lower48 Kitchen, winner of our Best New Restaurant award, is hosting its first guest wine-maker dinner this evening. Rudi Marchesi from Montinore Esta winery will be the initial guest, and chef Alex Figura has created a special four-course menu that will be available in addition to the regular roster. Highlights from that special menu include pork loin with sprouted grains, cauliflower and apricot; and a chocolate hazelnut bar with sour cherry ice cream. The four-course menu is $40 with wine pairings available for an additional $32, and Marchesi and owner Mario Nocifera will be working the roo, pouring wine all evening. To make reservations or to find out more, call 303-942-0262.

The evening will include food from TAG, Sushi Hai, Root Down, Linger and Pinche Taqueria, all paired with wine or beer. Additional drinks will be provided by Breckenridge Distillery, Infinite Monkey Theorem, Leopold Bros. and Roundhouse Spirits. There will be a silent auction with such items as fly-fishing trips, Aspen getaways and designer handbags. Tickets for the event are $150, and all proceeds benefit scholars from Colorado. The first of two events during the Uncorked weekend at the Denver Art Museum flows from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, when guests can enjoy hors d'oeuvres from Kevin Taylor Catering while sampling over 300 wines at a wine-tasting. On Saturday night, guests can attend the Uncorked Dinner and Auction. Both evenings will feature silent auctions where guests can bid on art, wine, tours, travel packages and more. Tickets for Friday night's wine tasting are $90 for museum members, $125 for non-members and $45 for designated drivers -- if you buy them between now and Thursday, since prices will go up $10 at the door. For those looking to beat the crowds, early-access tasting tickets are available for an additional $35, and get you in at 5 p.m. For more information, call 720-913-0034 or visit the DAM website.
