Civic Center Eats, Greek wine and kosher hot dogs on the culinary calendar this week

Civic Center Eats is on a roll: The largest gathering of food trucks in metro Denver returns to Civic Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, and will be there every subsequent Tuesday and thursday through October 9 (except for June 5, July 3, August 28 and September 2). Tuesday, May 20

Wine makers Nikos Karatzas from Ktima Pavlidis Estate and Petros Markantonatos from Gentilini Winery on the island of Cephalonia will be serving some of their Greek wines at a five-course wine dinner at Volta Mediterranean Restaurant tonight at 6:30 p.m. Reservations for the dinner are $75; call 303-93808800 or make reservations online here.

More than a dozen restaurants are joining in tonight's Dining Out for Kids, a benefit for Mount Saint Vincent, a treatment center for children with severe behavioral challenges. The restaurants will donate a percent of their profits to the non-profit; find more information here.
Tonight, in conjunction with the traditional Lag BaOmer festival (which was last Sunday), Chabad of Colorado will be hosting a Kosher Cookout and a Jewish Family Night at the Ballgame. From 5 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. the Kosher Cookout will be held on the outside porch of the 1up in LoDo, before the start of the Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants baseball game. The cookout will feature kosher food including hots dogs, hamburgers and chicken kabobs at a cost of $5 per person. For more information, visit the1-up.com.


The Rainmakers Elite Networking happy hour will be held at Funky Buddha tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. Native Rank Inc, Denver's fastest growing digital marketing agency, will be holding its fourth monthly networking event complete with shot girls, a live band and happy hour drink/ food specials.

Wednesday, May 21

Firenze a Tavola's next community table dinner will be celebrating the Northern Italian Region of Piemonte. The five-course Italian dinner starts tonight at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are $35 per person and you can make them here or by calling 303-561-0234.

Thursday, May 22

The Seasoned Chef Cooking School is holding a class you fish mongers called "Catch of the Day: Fresh Fish." The class, which runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. tonight, will teach participants how to select and sauté, roast and grill any type of seafood they desire. Tuition is $80; you can register for the course and learn more on The Seasoned Chef's website.

Friday, May 23

The Breckenridge Wine Extravaganza gets under way this evening and will run through the weekend. The event includes wine dinners, free tastings, wine and chocolate pairings, music from Dotsero and others, and about a dozen Colorado wineries. The festival kicks off tonight with two winemaker dinners featuring wines from Garfield Estates Winery and Avanti Winery and food by chef Stephen Kleinman of Spencer's at Beaver Run Resort, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a chocolate and wine pairing from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The indoor festival will take place at the Beaver Run Resort. You can purchase tickets -- $80 per person -- and learn more about the extravaganza here. A portion of the proceeds to benefit The Breckenridge Mountain Rotary Club.
