Native Foods Cafe opening on South Colorado, then in Denver Pavilions and Golden

Native Foods Cafe opened in CitySet last summer.
It was a big upset -- chains rarely win the editorial picks in our Best of Denver issue -- but Native Foods Cafe, which added an outpost in Glendale's CitySet last summer after already establishing a beachhead in Boulder , took Best Vegetarian Restaurant honors in the Best of Denver 2014. And now there's going to be more of a good thing: The California-based chain, which got its start in Palm Springs back in 1994, is slated to open a third spot, at 2023 South Colorado Boulevard, on May 27, with two more metro locations following in September -- one in the Promenade at Denver West, and one in the Denver Pavilions.

That's just one of the upgrades in the Denver Pavilions dining scene, which started with the opening of Lime late last year. Then came 5280 Burger Bar, whose executive chef, Daniel Bradley, is the focus of this week's Chef and Tell, followed by the opening of Grimaldi's in March. The Hard Rock Cafe is undergoing a transformation, too.

In addition to Native Foods, the Denver Pavilions will also be adding It'sugar, a candy retailer, and an outpost of Henry's Tavern, a Portland-based company that emphasizes local and international beers. Look for that spot to open before the end of the year.
