Will you want to go to Gozo? Find out tomorrow...

There's a seat for you at Gozo.
In early March, Gozo finally opened on South Broadway. It's an Italian-Spanish eatery -- not that you'd know it from the name. It doesn't serve aljotta (fish soup) or hobz biz-zejt (bread with tomatoes, anchovies, mint and cheese) or other staples from Gozo, an island in the Maltese archipelago. It doesn't even serve much Spanish food.

Gozo will open in the former home of Deluxe

The menu is predominantly Italian, with categories such as piccolo, pizze and contorni. But these dishes make sense when you check the map and see the island's proximity to Sicily. They make even more sense when you know that partner and front-of-house manager Frank Jolley IV and executive chef Nicholas Petrilli both spent years at acclaimed Italian restaurants in Napa.

In fact, Gozo is as much a Napa-inspired eatery as an Italian, Spanish or Gozitan one. Find out if the food is as tempting as these vacation destinations when my review is posted here tomorrow.

I'd love to have an opinion about the food but we left after half an hour of being ignored - and I even took a shower - lol. Apparently we weren't hip enough to pass muster with the hipster girl bartender who couldn't be bothered with us. Maybe we smelled too good. Taking a pass. Too bad -menu sounded tempting.

@Denver Dave That's a shame.  I've had great service (and very good food) every time I've gone.

@Denver Dave For what it's worth,we've been there three times and have had no problems with service.

@TheJeff @Denver Dave If service had just been OK I would go back but when you literally can't get a drink in half an hour I tend to cross it off my list.  Too much competition in the area to put up with that.  Also, no contact from the owner about my Yelp review - that says a lot too - either he isn't paying attention or doesn't give a rip.
