Reader: The best dive bar is the one hipsters don't know about

Dawn at the Lakeview Lounge.
The closing of the Thunderbird Lounge, one of our favorite dives, inspired us to visit many more of this city's best dives this month -- including the winner of Best Dive in the Best of Denver 2014, Lakeview Lounge. And we're not the only fans of the place.

Says Clara:

As soon as I was able following major surgery, I went to the Lakeview Lounge for a life affirming cold cerbeza. Best beer of my life.

But others worry about what lists like this can do to their favorites. Says Charlie:
The best dive bar is the one the hipsters don't know about.

Uh, I hate to tell you all this, but everyone's a hipster in one way or another. For example, I'm often called a hipster-in-reverse by my sister because I pretty much only dine at little holes-in-the-wall.

Anyway, if you're upset because a "hipster" is harshing your mellow in some way, guess what? They actually didn't offend you. Rather, you *chose* to be offended. Why waste your time even worrying what someone else does or doesn't do?

How about the entire swath of South Broadway from Alameda to, say, 2nd Ave.  Bearded and sleeved-up tools in skinny jeans are soooo avant garde.

City O' City and Sputnik...  two of the more serious hipster infestation sites in Denver.  Bring the Febreeze and make sure to put your clothes in a black plastic trash bag and set aflame after stepping foot in one of these places.  Wash your hands, too.

@TheFabulousMarkT "Why waste your time even worrying what someone else does or doesn't do?"  Didn't you just do the same by *choosing* to be offended by the widely-shared, and justified, hatred of hipster douche bags?  Go knit some sweaters for your cats.

@DerpMcDerpston Hi, Derp! How are you?

Actually, I wasn't even vaguely offended by your conversations on the subject here or elsewhere. Since, like I said, we're all hipsters (yes, including myself and yourself), it would be kind of silly to be. :)
