Reader: I'd rather a waitress know how to serve food instead of fire a gun

shootersgrillfacebook.jpg
From the Shooters Grill Facebook page.
Heading to the Western Slope this weekend? Remember to pack your ammo if you stop by Shooters Grill in Rifle, because the waitresses are packing at this restaurant. And so can you, because the Shooters Facebook page proclaims that the place is "open carry."

See also: Shooter's Grill waitresses are armed -- and so are many of the customers

Says Rocky:

How phucking stupid!! Not a chance this place would get my money.

Counters Melvin:

I would definitely eat there -- second amendment right. Hot chicks with good Glocks! Those who oppose are a bunch of little bitches who don't understand our constitution.

And here's how Richard sums it up:

I'd rather them know how to serve food efficiently.
Would you go to a restaurant where the staff -- and the customers -- are packing?

The bigger the govt. gets, the more freedoms we lose. And Govt. controls everything...like the media. agree with you.

But can't you do both? Fire a gun and serve food all at the same time?

I sure hope their smart guns. Wouldn't want a patron to grab their gun and shoot employees or customers. Then again, if that does happen, people might learn their lesson on how idiotic this idea is.

If every registered law abiding American carried a fun there would be a lot nicer folks out in this world. There are a lot of blow hards and douche bags who would not run their idiots mouths. Maybe more folks would have some ummmm manners??

And there were school shootings then as well, just not blown up in the media. My dads high school in South Dakota during the mid 70's had a shooter. Hit the news, story told, end of story.

Daisy- I think the flaunting is in part due to the fact they feel they are losing rights and need to stamp out an image of being able to be proud and responsible with guns in public. Is a restaurant the right place to demonstrate that the harm is the shooter not the gun? Questionable. However it is a stance that they feel is appropriate for their situation. You can bet this wouldn't come close to happening on this side of the state.

Not my fault you have tender feelings over a war criminal. Sounds like a case of Barack the Butcher Syndrome where the lesser evil is your Messiah. My conscience does not swing that way Mr. 3000 Sperm only.

Well, someone had to go off and relate this to Obama. 3000 sperm and, you were the fastest??

That's when you know they need mental healthcare. The need to carry a firearm to gain respect, that is.

This isn't a culture either. Not one of common sense and respect for others. This is pre Wyatt Earp and the days of checking your gun at the sheriffs office. You going to try and tell me that the drunk of modern times is smarter and more respectful and less knee-jerk than the drunks of his day?

There were always hunters and ranchers at my school and their families had them. But people didn't flaunt it, and sure and ducks didn't wave them about in restaurants and stores. We never once had a school shooting, a lock down or any of that nonsense. Our culture has just entered a new level of violence I cannot understand.

How do I know that someone open carrying isn't a lunatic about to murder someone?you have to be unbalanced to parade a gun around like that.

Safest place on the Western Slope to eat. Idc that they carry, I want to open carry without the dirty looks of ignorant scared assholes.

Why would you respect someone just for wearing a firearm? Any old jackass can get $50 and buy a gun. How is that worthy of respect?

Let's say that FAMOUS CRACKHEAD ROBBER so feared/revered by pro-gun folks -- you know, the one that might rob this restaurant or the place next door -- comes into the restaurant and the waitress has her arms full with plates of food. What's to keep our cagey criminal from taking the waitress' gun out of her holster?

How many times has this restaurant, or nearby establishments, been robbed, anyway?

At least people will respect them because they are carrying firearms.

I'm frightened by the caloric fatty deposits that those waitresses are armed with. Sorry, I'm terrified of overtly fertile lasagna bellies.

That's "too stupid," stupid. Let me get this straight, stupid. You're an uneducated Teamonster, watching Faux Ewes, fan of Sarah Palin, NRA member, and you think you have the right to call someone a lemming? You're a special kind of stupid, stupid.

Joe Ponce de Carrano

Obomber is giving weapons of mass murder to Syrian rebels, but even showing a small arm within the Murcan border draws so much tender feelings and butthurt I wonder if people are fucking sociopaths or have a selective conscience. Killing for oil pipelines ok, but two chicks with side arms puts me in a tizzzy. CUCKOO!

Russell Theilman

I guess more to the point, they also lack the ability to think for themselves. The world would be better if they just acted like the lemmings they are and followed each other off a cliff.

I beg to differ, progressive liberals are to stupid to be able to do more then one thing. The problem is, since they can't do two things at the same time, they think no ones else can either.

Tanner Coal

I think a lot of people who are so anti-gun don't want to accept cultures. A lot of people grow up with hunters and shooters, especially in a city called Rifle.. It's a culture they're adapted to and some couldn't imagine growing up any other way than they did. Be respectful of other people choices and cultures.

Its a silly gimick to generate more business and, sadly, all the talk about this joke of a restaurant is doing just that

Probably true rl. Would you rob a place where everyone was armed?

Just because a waitress knows how to fire a gun does not mean she doesn't know how to serve food. Most people are capable of mastering more than one skill.

Stupid. Pointless fear-mongering. I'll bet you one of these clowns shoots themselves in the foot before thwarting a robbery.

This place got great reviews so I guess the guns have NOTHING to do with the taste of the food. In-animate objects can't magically will the taste of the cuisine to be better or worse. Go figure.

Why if you don't like seeing weapons (the only purpose for which is killing other people) being paraded for no other purpose than to provoke a reaction are you “an ignorant scared asshole”?  I’m not opposed to all gun ownership, but I am a fan of common sense.  Why then can we not have a rational conversation without the name calling – on both sides I would add.

You just don't want to be nearby when the baggies shoot their own little genitals:

Karma? At Least 5 Ammosexuals Have Shot off Their Junk Since 2010
Posted by: Salvatore Aversa in Crime, Most Popular on AATTP, The Gun Control Debate, Weird News June 16, 2014

Despite what you see in movies, placing a loaded weapon in the front of your pants and aiming at your twig and berries is not a good idea. Accidental discharges of a different nature are too high of a risk. Yet, people hoping to imitate their favorite actors continue to place their weapons in their waistline. Since 2010, at least five of these ammosexuals have ensured their gene pool ends at them.
1. September 2012: Michael Smeriglio, while cleaning his pistol. The 18-year old Floridian shot a bullet through his penis and left testicle while he was attempting to clean a gun he bought at a party the month prior.

2. July 2012: Tavares Colbert, while testing out a firearm. Colbert, 36, was charged with illegal firearms possession after he admitted to the cops that he had intentions to sell the gun to another man outside a 7-Eleven in Oklahoma. On the way to make the sale, Colbert tested the gun in the car and shot himself in the nads.

3. August 2011: Joshua Seto, walking into store with girlfriend. 27-year old Seto was walking into a store with his girlfriend in Chandler, Arizona, when a pink pistol went off in his pants. Putz.

4. May 2010: Unidentified man, shopping at Lowe's. A lone shopper blew away his testicles on a Sunday afternoon while walking the aisles at Lowe's Home Improvement in Washington state. The gun was kept not-so-safely in his waistband.
5. March 2010: Unidentified teenager, walking into medical center. A 17-year old in Vallejo, California, was spotted holding his wounded crotch while walking into the emergency room. At the time of the report, the kid didn't tell anyone what happened.
Prior to the guns discharging, these men all had one thing in common--the NRA considered them "good guys with guns." Owning a gun in America is far too easy. At the very least, gun owners should be required to undergo training sessions to learn the do's and don'ts of handling a gun. One would think pointing a loaded gun at their manhood would spark some inner-instinct that says, "This will not end well." Unfortunately for these men, that did not happen.

@StevenGregory Your point is a good one and is supported by statistics.  In a violent attack, a gun freak is more likely to be killed by thier own gun than to fight off the other right wing gun freak that is robbing them for meth money.

Steve, as long as you are correcting, should we consider your effort?  "One word with no hyphen." -- does not contain a verb and is not a sentence.
