Is it fall yet? Almost. A pair of seasonal beers from two Colorado breweries are hitting shelves around town right now. They include Grimm Brothers Brewhouse's Farmer's Daughter, a 6.1 ABV German Style Oktoberfest beer with a creamy mouthfeel and toasty aroma, and New Belgium's Tour de Fall, a new seasonal that celebrates the Fort Collins brewery's annual ten-city Tour de Fall bicycle extravaganza. The 6 percent ABV pale ale was dry-hopped with Cascade and Amarillo dry hops.

Denver Bicycle Cafe will host a meet-the-brewer event tonight at 7 p.m. featuring Fate Brewing in Boulder. Try the beers and talk with a Fate brewer.

Upslope Brewing will tap a special beer, Summer Herbal Ale, today at 6 p.m. at its original Lee Hill taproom in Boulder. The beer is a gruit, an ancient beer style that uses herbs to add flavor and bitterness, rather than hops. "Traditionally, gruit is brewed with a combination of three herbs: sweet gale (Myrica gale), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), and wild rosemary (Ledum palustre), which are used to temper the sweetness of the grains, add medicinal properties and preserve the drink from spoiling," the brewery says. Rebecca's Herbal Apothecary & Supply will be on site sampling and educating guests on a variety of herbs, while Bumper Crop food truck will be serving up food.

Friday, August 15

Diebolt Brewing will tap Diebolt's International Ale (DIA) today beginning at 4 p.m. "We stowed three international hop varieties and one extremely simple malt bill into the overhead compartment on this one to create a crisp, smooth flight of hoppy flavor," the brewery says. The Bakin' Bakery food truck will be on hand.

Saturday, August 16

Black Shirt Brewing will release its once-a-year Red Evelyn Imperial Rye IPA today, a beer that owners Branden and Chad brew to honor their late grandmother. The party runs from 2 to 10 p.m. and includes live music and food. Red Evelyn will be available in 22-ounce bombers for $9.99 each beginning at 4 p.m., with a limit of three per person. It will also be on tap.

Crazy Mountain Brewery will host its fourth annual Ed Fest today from 3 to 10 p.m. at the Freedom Park soccer fields in Edwards. There will be more than forty craft breweries on hand, from Colorado and also out of state (find the full list at edfestbeer.com). Tickets are $39 in advance, while VIP tix are $79. Proceeds benefit the Eagle Valley Land Trust, a local nonprofit.

Verboten Brewing will celebrate the once-a-year release of barrel-aged Mountain Man today in its Loveland taproom with a breakfast starting at 10:30 a.m. The breakfast is $20 per person and includes an all-you-can-eat buffet along with a ten-ounce pour of Mountain Man and the first opportunity to buy a bottle (limit one per person.) For tickets, e-mail Angie at angie@verbotenbrewing.com (only 32 tix available).
