Reader: Bagel Snobs? Next It Will Be $4 Toast Like in San Francisco

The Bagel Store.
Has Denver become a city of bagel snobs? That's what one reader suggests, as the debate over Denver bagels versus New York bagels -- as exemplified by Rosenberg's Bagels & Delicatessen -- continues. But according to that same reader, there's another danger lurking on the horizon: designer toast.

Says Angerisagift:

Just make a decent bagel at a reasonable price. WTF? Bagel snobs now, too. Next it will be $4 fucking toast like in San Francisco.

And then there's this from Jonah:

Rather have a donut. Bored overprivileged white folk.
Would you rather have a doughnut than read another word about Denver's bagel wars? How about some toast? Who has the best in town -- and how much would you pay?

Um, toast doesn't cost $4 here unless you're stupid. I'm a Colorado native, and you're simply an idiot.

Denver will never be as cool as the west coast.

i was bummed when my two breakfast sandwiches and two sodas cost 25$ its a couple blocks from hy house and otw to work. I would literally stop at Rosenberg every morning, but at 10 dollars for a bagel sandwich, I just cant be a custie like that...

I'm pretty sure Thump on 13th Ave already has $4 toast.

The bagels here aren't even good...Rosenberg's did not impress me! Ok food but totally not worth the price.

If you will pay $4 for toast, you deserve to be poor.

If Denverites had the sense to decide what is good on their own, they wouldn't need to rush from one trendy place to another on the basis of reviews.  And maybe we wouldn't have so many new restaurants serving very similar menus, because chefs would have the courage to serve what they want to cook, not what is in favor at the moment.
