​It's not exactly tableside guacamole, but this do-it-yourself version, complete with cilantro, pico, lime wedges and a charred jalapeño, is surprisingly good for a restaurant that's not remotely renowned for its food.

​The tamales at this strip mall Mexican in the suburbs are good -- very good -- but it's the green chile, made with jalapenos and tomatillos (and not much else), that makes the trek worth the time.

Cafe Society served up seven Guess where? contests last week, ranging from Mexican cervezas at Satellite Bar to a tower of golden onion rings at Charcoal to a duo of bathroom doors at a local bar that gave Patty Calhoun pause before peeing.

Those bathrooms belong to Three Lions, and for correctly identifying their residence, Funk wins an EatDenver deck.

​We were over the moon to be able to sit down in a comfortable booth and enjoy a nice frosty beverage on a nice frosty day. We might have been the only people here not drinking PBR, but we wanted to imagine the warmth of Mexico -- not the hipster heat of the street.

​This stack of onion rings doesn't come anywhere close to the pyramid of snow outside my window, but on a day like this, a heap of onions rings, paired with a fat burger and a jug of whiskey, seems like a good way to spend the day.

​I'll cop to the fact that vegetarian sushi isn't my saucer of wasabi, but I'll also admit that if I were a vegetarian, which will never, ever happen, I'd go back for this mock substitute, mainly because the chef has a very talented hand when it comes to playing with raw food.
