Guess where I'm drinking?

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. If you haven't made your Easter plans, it's not too late to get out of the house and bend an elbow, if not a knee. Although you won't find a lavish brunch spread here, the proprietors want you to know that the bar will be open for business?

Guess where I'm eating cheap sushi rolls...that taste cheap?

It's an attractive offer: all sushi rolls priced 50 percent off, all day long. But like a lot of things in life, you get what you pay for, and aside from the fact that the fish tasted faded and the rice was even duller, with no hint of the obligatory tang of vinegar, when I asked if freshly grated wasabi was available, the server looked at me as though I'd lost all my marbles. Short, curt answer: "No, it comes out of a bag." Truth be told, I'm inclined to wonder if the fish does, too.

Guess where I'm eating a corned beef sandwich?

Yesterday, after briefly stopping at a restaurant that made me sprint to the nearest wash sink to slather my hands in soap, I didn't have much of an appetite, but that all changed when I took a seat at a well-known deli and ordered a corned beef sandwich stacked with coleslaw and melted Swiss. I only ate half, which worried my server, who was sweeter than the slew of desserts the table next to me had in front of them. "Next time, honey," she said, "save yourself two bucks and just get a half sandwich." Instead, I threw down more money for a bagel and a container of smoked salmon cream cheese for breakfast.

Guess where I'm eating a trio of kabobs?

It was a chef who recommended that I drag my butt to the suburbs -- and to this joint, in particular -- to get my Middle Eastern fix, and so I did, feasting on a well-dressed plate of meaty kabobs, baba ghanoush and spicy hummus.

Guess where I'm eating a pork chop and spaetzle?

With the flurry of new restaurant openings, it's all too easy to sweep some of the older ones -- like the restaurant where this photo was snapped -- under the rug, but this lively spot, which is celebrating ten years feeding the neighborhood in which it resides, continues to command my attention, turning out truly memorable dishes, including this rhapsodic pork chop sidekicked with spaetzle and Brussels sprouts.

Cafe Society dished up five Guess Where? contests last week, ranging from an Argentinean pizza topped with egg and hearts of palm from Buenos Aires Pizzeria to a sizzling platter of tandoori chicken from India's Castle to a bowl of crab dip with housemade potato chips from a restaurant that just trotted out a new happy hour menu.

Guess where I'm eating a pizza that makes you want to salsa?

Sure, you can get a Hawaiian pizza here, and a pizza with the ever-present prosciutto, too, but most of the pizzas at this charmer zigzag in a different direction, most notably a pizza studded with ham, palm hearts and egg, its surface paved with a Latin American salsa rosada.

Guess where I'm eating crab dip and housemade potato chips?

Denver restaurants are rolling out new happy hour menus to coincide with the warmer weather, and late yesterday afternoon, while the sun was warming my neck, I enjoyed one of the new happy hour dishes -- crab dip and housemade potato chips -- at a joint whose two patios were overflowing with people doing the same.

Guess where I'm eating an In-N-Out clone?

A friend of mine -- a bona fide burger baron -- turned me on to this burger joint, which, he insisted, flipped a burger that was the closest meat-between-the-bun he'd ever eaten that mimicked a famed burger from In-N-Out. It wasn't quite quite an In-N-Out burger, but I agree that it comes very, very close, and you'll only need to travel about 65 miles to get your mouth on one.

Guess where I'm eating tandoori chicken?

Whenever I hear the sizzle of tandoori chicken and sniff the scent of exotic Indian spices wafting from the kitchen, I get a little giddy. And when I have the opportunity to pair that chicken with a Lion's Stout, one of my favorite beers, it's like Christmas.
