Cooking in the new Kitchen Table classroom.
Kitchen Table Cooking School is now cooking in its new location, at 6380 South Fiddler's Green Circle in Greenwood Village. The new spot is close to light rail, but also has plenty of parking as well as a new incarnation of Espressolé Caffe, where you can enjoy a cup of handcrafted coffee as well as the fantastic view before or after your lesson.

And there are two classes today alone.

Photos: Crowds now snarfing burgers at Snarfburger

All photos by Philip Poston.

The lunch line was out the door today at Snarfburger, which just opened at 2000 Arapahoe in Boulder, in the space vacated by Daddy Bruce's Bar-B-Que in March 2012. Until now, the Snarf's empire -- which Jim Seidel started in Boulder a decade ago -- has been devoted to subs. But burgers won't be the only innovation here; there will also be fried bologna sandwiches and deep-fried hot dogs with bacon.

Keep reading for a look at Snarfburger.

Exclusive first look: Live Basil Pizza opens Thursday in south Denver

Tom Ryan and his partner Rick Schaden are on a roll -- a burger roll, a 24/7 restaurant roll and a pizza roll. The two men, both of whom are the entrepreneurial brains behind Consumer Concept Group, one of the country's top companies in the field of restaurant development and investment, founded Smashburger, which now trumpets more than 220 locations across the world, including 22 in Colorado. Last year, on Halloween, they unleashed Tom's Urban 24, a 24/7 food temple that's also expanding outside of Colorado, and on Thursday of this week, Ryan and Schaden will open Live Basil Pizza, their first fast-casual pizza chain, located just off I-25 and Hampden...and conveniently next door to Smashburger.

Caution Brewing will open second location in Lakewood and can Lao Wang Lager

Caution Brewing Facebook page
After just two years in business on Denver's northeast side, Caution Brewing announced Saturday that it will open a second brewery in Lakewood, at 1057 South Wadsworth Boulevard; Cautions' existing brewery will stay open as well.

The new location will have a smaller brewhouse -- three barrels as opposed to five at the existing brewery -- but a larger taproom. It will also be situated in a high-traffic shopping center on Wadsworth, rather than an industrial business park.

Voodoo Doughnuts is coming to East Colfax -- where else?

Thumbnail image for voodoo.jpg
The rumor that Denver would soon be getting an outpost of the Portland, Oregon-based Voodoo Doughnuts has been swirling for eighteen months. The colorful shop, owned by Tres Shannon and Kenneth "Cat Daddy" Pogson, pairs weirdly flavored, irreverently named doughnuts -- like the Gay Bar ("chocked full of luscious cream and all the colors of the rainbow!") and the Maple Blazer Blunt ("It's a raised doughnut rolled into a blunt with maple frosting and red sprinkle ember, prices vary due to Blazer Mania!") -- with eclectic decor themed around voodoo priests. It's been featured on Anthony Bourdain's show and named an international tourist destination by the Los Angeles Times and, as Laura Shunk reported in late 2011, you can also get married on-site.

"We'll do something here in the next year," Shannon told Shunk at the time. "Denver's definitely on the radar."

Guess where I'm drinking a flight of beers, none of which are sold in liquor stores?

flightofbeersnostores.jpg

I spent a lot of time drinking in tap rooms over the weekend, including this one, where none of the house-brewed beers are sold at any liquor stores -- and that's a huge bummer, because it's a long trek from my house to here.

Can you guess where I'm drinking?

Special bonus: Anyone who gives the first correct answer to a Guess Where post is entered into a pool -- and every Monday, we select one lucky winner who'll receive an EatDenver dining deck, worth up to $520 in discounts at independent restaurants.

Guess where you're eating? At an EatDenver restaurant if your name is NickCO

Cafe Society served up four Guess Where? contests last week, ranging from a mouth-numbing Colorado spirit poured at an Italian restaurant that has yet to be identified, to a old-fashioned from Bull & Bush, to a plate of fantastic tacos from a still-unnamed taqueria, to a scallop pooled in squid ink.

The Matador gets its liquor license -- and could soon be pouring tequila on West 32nd Avenue

Heidis3.JPG
Danielle Lirette
The former home of Heidi's Deli.
The Matador is moving into the original home of Heidi's Deli, at 3496 West 32nd Avenue. But not as quickly as it had wanted to. Initially, the Seattle-based Tex-Mex chain had hoped to open its eighth location (there are four in the Seattle area, two in Portland and one in Boise) by Cinco de Mayo -- a perfect date to roll out its more than 100 varieties of tequila. But that was before the Highland Mommies started complaining that the area already had enough Mexican restaurants (El Camino is just two blocks away, Pinche Taqueria three) not to mention enough liquor licenses. (Heidi's did not have one.) And the West Highlands Neighborhood Association officially opposed the liquor-license application.

Reader: Talking on a cell phone in a restaurant is as dirty as a diaper change

starbucks.diaper.jpg
Stapleton Starbucks: Would you rather witness a cell phone conversation or a diaper change?
Alex and Ruth Burgos made big news after they changed their one-year-old's dirty diaper on a table at the Starbucks in Stapleton, as a (very) public complaint over the lack of changing tables in the bathroom. They didn't get much sympathy. Some readers wondered why they just didn't take it outside; after all, it's unlikely they walked to this location, so they could have done the diaper-change in their car. The brewhaha inspired Jenn Wohletz to come up with a list of four more things that people shouldn't have to be told were very bad (and unappetizing) restaurant behaviors. And perhaps that list was too short...
