A Week of Fashion

transitions_front.jpg

It’s another stylish, stylish week here in D-Town, with lots of stuff Cat doesn’t want to miss. So leave those ball caps and hoodies at home, and hit the streets.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 2
Transitions: A Fashion Benefit for UACK
8 p.m.
Wynkoop Brewery (upstairs)
$10 at the door; $8 in advance (online or at the Parlour)
Fashions by The Fabric Lab, Equillibrium Clothing, Potential Fashions and Grae Clothing.
The United Artists’ Coalition for Kids is a great nonprofit that brings artists and educators together to teach art and community building to children.

THURSDAY, MAY 3
Ladies Only Sample Tour
4 to 8 p.m.
Historic Downtown Littleton
$5
The tour is limited to 500 people, and the $5 entry earns shoppers free goodies and coupon books from more than forty merchants. And sure, men are welcome to attend, but as as organizer Susan Burgstiner points out, “It’s kind of like going to a Hugh Jackman film: They just go because their women want to see it.”

FRIDAY, MAY 4
Zoot Suit Romeo and Juliet
8 p.m.
Buell Theater
Tickets are $20 to $50
This one-night-only performance benefits the Labryinth Arts Academy and features Ugly Betty’s Tony Plana. It tells the story of Romeo and Juliet set against L.A.’s Zoot Suit Riots of 1943, plus, “the costumes kick ass!” says José Mercado, executive director of the Labyrinth Arts Academy, which provides Denver’s at-risk kids a chance to express themselves in the creative and performing arts

La Dolce Vita Festa Italiana and Benefit
6 p.m. reception; 7 p.m. fashion show
Elena Ciccone, 947 Pearl Street in Boulder
A storefront screening of Fellini’s La Dolce Vita provides a fitting backdrop for a showcase of Italian fashions, including Missoni, Les Copains, Furla, Peserico, Alviero Martini and Roberto Coin. On Saturday and Sunday come back by the store between noon and 6 p.m. for trunk shows, cocktails and gelato.

Mile High Shakedown: Kustom Kulture Art Show
7 p.m. until late
238s Gallery, 238 Santa Fe Drive
Add some vroom to your First Friday with a display of custom cars and choppers, art, fashion by Equillibrium Clothing and live music from Reno Divorce.
