Cheap, Easy Web

amiclubwearww.jpg

While reading Seventeen’s latest issue, I found out about a website that has everything from apparel to costumes. The best part…great prices! We would all love to have the time to go out to shop, but with school, homework, studying, and jobs, it can be hard to find the extra time. Shopping on the web makes things a lot easier -- you can even pull up a separate window to shop while doing homework! So where do you find great shoes, clothing, and accessories at a great price? A little website called Amiclubwear.com. The site features both men's an women's clothing, and also has great Halloween costumes. For my money, it’s the best place to shop on the web!

Style Swap

Style trends are changing almost everyday. Five days a week, I am confined to the halls of my school, where I see teen fashion all around me. What happens when guys and girls swap their “norms” of style? I see the guys taking on skinny jeans -- tighter then the girls -- as well as wearing low v-cut T’s. They are fearless of color and patterns -- neon, argyle, and splatter paint are just a few of the designs seen on a guys clothing.

And the girls are sure adding a more masculine touch! Looser fitting clothes like the “boyfriend” jean -- a baggy yet comfy jean that we are used to seeing on guys is becoming popular for girls. Then there is the baggy sweaters and hoodies that have become popular in darker colors and simple stripes. This generation is fearless of challenging society's norms and willing to experience the other side!

The Dark Side

IMAGEgothas.jpeg

I have always been fascinated with Goth style. Now, I would never be able to wear black clothing everyday, but I really respect those who do! My best friend is what most would consider Goth, but her style is so much more interesting that just layers of black on black. Cayla is a smart girl with a talent for art. Her drawings are stunning, her poetry is touching, and her kindness fills a room. At first glance you would not know any of that, and because of her style many people jump to conclusions about her before getting to know her.

Cayla’s favorite place to shop is Hot Topic, where she can buy bondage pants, studs, and fishnet gloves. Her eye make up is intricate, thick eyeliner of all colors, with symbols and swirls off to the side. Though Cayla's clothing is dark, she is a bright soul with an amazing heart and her clothing doesn't tell the whole story of who she is!

Back to Basics

Back to the regular school schedule means going back to tests, homework and classes -- and finding a way to be comfy and still stylish. When I returned to school, I noticed that every class has its own style. For seniors, it's super casual -- a simple T-shirt and jean shorts. Juniors are cute but casual, usually wearing a loose fashion top with jeans. Underclassmen really seem to care about how they dress, and sometimes they overdo it by wearing bright-colored tees, short shorts, designer handbags and lots of accessories.

What class are you in? Here are some ideas to help fit in with the latest class trends. The girls' looks are from Forever 21 and the boys' fashions are from Heritage 1981.

Silver Jeans grand opening party hosted by Teen Vogue

As I walked through the brand new glass doors of the first ever Silver Jeans store, I was welcomed by the smell of crisp denim, the sound of The Beatles playing in the background, and a friendly staff ready for action! First, asking to see Michele Bedrink, I looked around noticing the color palette of warm earth tones, and a glass water feature in the back that creates an elite, feng shui-friendly feeling. Instantly, I was shaking Michele’s hand and being told, “It’s so nice to meet you, thank you so much for coming and we are going to hook you up with a pair of jeans because, we can’t have you walking around in someone else’s jeans!” I was in such a state of shock, that all I could do was smile and say, “ No, thank you!” Immediately, Michele took my hand, leading the way to the founder/president of this pristine denim company, Michael Silver.

I found myself shaking the hand of Mr. Silver! I knew I had to make the most of this moment -- I mean, who gets to meet a designer just any ordinary day? “Hello, I’m Sarah and I’m with Westword!” I said. Michael replied, “Hello Sarah, I’m Michael. Nice to meet you!”

Then, with no hesitation I asked, “May I ask you a couple questions?” Michael was more then happy to answer these questions that I’m sure he has heard umpteen times before!

Silver Jeans: Affordable denim with a designer fit

silverjeanadd.jpg

When I was told that I was being sent to a Teen Vogue party on August 16th to promote the first ever Silver Jeans store opening, I was ecstatic! The new store is in the Park Meadows Mall, and I thought before I went I should research the jeans and see what makes them so special.

Silver Jeans was established in 1991 to help customers find affordable jeans that fit as well as higher priced designer brands. The company was founded by Michael Silver, and he is now the president. While Silver Jeans don't come cheap -- they range from about $50-$80 a pair -- they do come with a promise of satisfaction. Michael’s mission was to make sure these jeans were sold at a competitive price by department stores such as Nordstrom, Dillard’s, and Macy's. As the jeans became more popular, Silver started to expand and the denim has since been sold primarily at specialty chains like The Buckle, Vanity Shops, and Bang Bang. Silver is known for their great products, and they've also invested in making leather belts, handbags, and accessories. Even if you are on a tight budget, a pair of Sliver jeans is a great investment if you want a good fit and quality denim! Stay tuned to my teen fashion blog for a complete run-down of my experience at the Teen Vogue launch party.

The Urban Hippie Goes Back to School

Summer is slowly coming to an end, and we are all racing out to do our back to school shopping. It's important to keep in mind your own unique style, while also nodding to the fashions and styles of fall.

If your style is: “Urban Hippie”

Look for Hippie inspired tops that are oversized creating a flow.

Cross Stitch Accent Tunic - $27.80 Forever 21

With an oversized, flowing shirt, you don’t want to add any more volume. Look for a skinny jean to wear on the bottom.

If your shirt has embroidering on it, don’t wear a chunky necklace, this will only add chaos! A sweet chain with some beads will be perfect!

During daytime, pick a casual shoe, like a sandal for comfort and style!
