Beak Talk With Smokey the Parrot on Barack Obama

Categories: The Donkey Show

With the two major-party nominees picked and the long slog until November ahead of us, let the message of change be carried by Smokey the Parrot.

I have but three questions:

1) Why isn’t this bird on the campaign trail already? We’re getting enough repetitive jabberwocky from John McCain and his surrogates, reiterating ad nauseam their playbook of McCain’s service and Barrack Obama’s inexperience (and handsomeness, apparently), so why not put the bird out there to suck up some airtime?

Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal on Glenn Beck last week: “[John McCain’s] got a lifetime of service to the country: in the military, in the Congress.”

Smokey: “Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can. Hello? Obama.”

Mitt Romney on American Morning with John Roberts: “Well, I think Barack Obama is increasingly well-defined in the minds of the American voters. They see him as a very charming person. They also see him as somebody who has appealed very strong to the most left wing of his party. And they see him as someone who is very inexperienced and whose judgment they question.”

Smokey: “Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can. Hello? Obama.”

Romney again on Fox and Friends: “...for all of Barack Obama's charm... he doesn't have the experience to lead our economy at a time like this.”

Smokey: “Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can. Hello? Obama.”

Senator John Thune (R-SD) on MSNBC:: “And I think [McCain] is the person with the experience on this issue that can make sure that we have success in Iraq and that we can get our young men and women home soon.”

Smokey: “Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can. Hello? Obama.”

Florida governor Charlie Crist on Fox and Friends: “And, certainly, John McCain his entire life has been his own person, I mean, a true American hero. Somebody who really paid the price for freedom for our country...”

Smokey: “Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can. Hello? Obama.”

2) What does the bird say between his orations on change? “Hey spunky butt” is what I keep hearing.

Senator Richard M. Burr (R-NC) on MSNBC: “...the reality is the American people have never elected a president because of a popularity contest or because of looks. They've elected him because they've gotten to the substance of the individuals...”

Smokey: “Yes we can. Yes we can. Yes we can. Hey spunky butt.”

3) Where is Smokey’s right leg? It isn’t a war wound, is it? Because Obama could really use a veep with military experience...
