Nine Lives
While I was driving across America and Canada last month, I couldn't escape the influence of home. I detailed how Colorado stories lead the newscasts in every city I visited in my November 23 "Worst-Case Scenario." While watching the evening news in Canada , for example, I learned that mayors of Toronto and Mississauga, Ontario, had been named- -- along with Denver mayor John Hickenlooper -- as finalists for the prestigious title of "World Mayor 2006."
I speculated in my comic that his bold blaming style in the Denver Election Commission fiasco would surely win him the crown. Sadly, he did not win top honors. He did make it into the top ten, with kudos from the jury.
