Party On

Categories: Things to Do
Our River North artist friend, Grand Old RiNo Tracy Weil, reports that last weekend's RiNo Birthday Celebration and Open House was a great success, despite inhospitable temperatures. Gallery-goer Deborah Elam won the 100-bottle "Wall of Wine" raffle, and a ggod time was had by all.

Weil even sent some fabulous pics of the afterparty and evening iron pour, which gave off some much-needed heat for spectators after the sun fell, courtesy of Rian Kerrane, Mark Guilbeau and Ironton Studios. You shoulda been there.

Feeling left out? Weil says RiNo probably won't host another full-scale open house event until sometime next fall, when the weather's more cooperative, but lots of the funky art district's venues are open monthly for First Fridays (for a complete list, check with the RiNo Crow at www.rivernorthart.com). And by the way, it took 221 cupcakes to create the event's rhino-shaped mosaic cake. Bon appetit. -- Susan Froyd
