Hey, I Can See My House From Here!
According to this blog post, Denver is the most texture-mapped city on Earth. What does that mean? It means you can fly through a remarkably realistic mock up of our fair city with the right software on your computer (available here). For those without a computer powerful enough to run it smoothly – or those too busy to install the software for five minutes of amusement – the video embedded above is an awe-inspiring flythrough of Denver’s newly added buildings created with the program. Joel Warner blogged about this early this year, but they’ve added to it considerably since then, as the video shows.
And no, I can’t actually see my house in there, but I live in the suburbs. If you live in one of those fancy lofts downtown, maybe you will spot yours. And the next time someone calls Denver a cow town, remind them: Most.Texture-Mapped City. Ever. – Cory Casciato
