Left Behind: Republicans Need Not Apply

Now there's one more perk to voting Democrat: a discount on your paint job. Patrick Nesvadba, a.k.a. "Patrick the Painter," taped this sign to a LoDo lamppost recently, advertising 10 percent off to left-leaning folks.
"I think it sounds like a good idea to put your money where your mouth is, to put your beliefs on your sleeve," he says.
Disgusted by the Enron scandal and the war in Iraq, Nesvadba changed his party affiliation six years ago and hasn't looked back since. He even switched out his car for a bike and trailer as a protest against the war.
Nesvadba hasn't given out any discounts on house paintings yet, and he says he won't be verifying party affiliation -- he'll just take his clients' word for it. Though he doesn't talk politics with his customers, he may become even shrewder about his patrons.
"I might change that to not taking any Republicans at all. I have plenty of work so I can be choosy."
-- Naomi Zeveloff

What the hell is this fairy thinkin? If enough of us rode our bicycles, there would be no war? Yea, lets be like China: 1000's of bikers swarming the streets and sidewalks in mass chaos. Why not just convert some streets to biking only and paint dashed lines on the sidewalks for two-way traffic. This guys nuts.

Posted On: Sunday, Aug. 12 2007 @ 8:22AMI like the idea of the painting dashed lines on the sidewalks for bidirectional traffic. Bicyclists already ride on the sidewalks and whereever they want without any regard for signs and redligths. Might as well organize the flow. And with the advent of Chili's drive by service there really isn't any pedistrians left. They are an endangered species.

Posted On: Sunday, Aug. 12 2007 @ 12:37PMI am not biking to protest the war. I started biking when I lost my license for 5 years. Now I have my license but continue to bike because I like the like the life style that evoled and I like the way it makes me feel. My life is more simply and I feel in the moment more often. There is something to be said about physical balance having an positive affect on your mental balance.

Posted On: Sunday, Aug. 12 2007 @ 12:56PMHow are the Democrats better than the Republicans? They are the same morons with a different title. What did they do when they took the majority in Congress? NOTHING!
Let's look at Al Gore and his documentary. Mr. Gore tries to come off as being Green, but ignores the single largest contributor to global warming in his movie, the consumption of animal products. Why does he do this? Because he still wants to have his hamburgers inside his ridiculously large home. But so many Dems tout how green he is and their party is in general. No, Dems are not green, they only pretend to win the vote of people too stupid to actually know what "green" is. Unfortunately, that is the vast majority of the population.
I don't see any difference in people who vote for Dems or Republicans. They are both letting the leaders of this country screw over the planet. Why not wake up, do some research of your own, and vote third party. You will actually be walking the walk, instead of just talking the talk.
Posted On: Monday, Aug. 13 2007 @ 6:17AMYeeeah...I'm sure the mega metropolis of Denver, Colorado is going to be just like China if everyone rode our bikes. Whoever wrote that must be from Limon.
Riding bikes in protest for the war means that bikers aren't needing to use gas, gas comes from oil, blah blah. If everyone rode their bikes then America would have significantly less need for oil. We wouldn't be so desperate for it. Do people still not realize this? Plus, we wouldn't have such a problem with obesity. It's a win-win situation for everyone.

Posted On: Wednesday, Aug. 22 2007 @ 11:34PMYour right about both parties. I was only testing the waters of people' reaction to it. It was an in momement experiment. If I had to do it again it would straight up be Libertarians and Green and Peace Parties if there one is one; these party members would get 30% off all there painting projects right off the bat. But you have to prove your a member. AT least there is a chance in hell that one of these parties will try to instigate a policy of peace in our forign policy that hasn't worked in 50 years. From here on out it's GO GREEN WITH PATRICK THE PAINTER. No more spraying paint into the air. Everything brushed and rolled. No driving a truck across town. I bike to jobs in Denver with my little trailor.
