Last night, Village Voice Media (VVM) Executive Editor Michael Lacey, and VVM Chairman and CEO Jim Larkin were arrested by plainclothes officers in Phoenix on misdemeanor charges related to the alleged revealing of grand jury information in a Phoenix New Times feature story. Westword is a part of the VVM chain.

Long story short, Maricopa County officials were using the grand jury to subpoena all New Times documents concerning Maricopa County Sherrif Joe Arpaio, whose real estate investments were recently investigated by the paper. But the kicker here is that the grand jury subpoena demanded New Times also produce internet profiles of every reader to visit the its website since 2004.

Lacey and Larkin had a problem with this, so they printed the article revealing the grand jury's fishing expedition. Then they were busted for it. Stay tuned. We'll keep you posted.-- Sean Cronin
