Denver Post Sheds Its Modesty

In a March 3 More Messages blog, I noted that the Rocky Mountain News spent two articles complimenting staff members for their performance in a pair of recent journalism contests, while the Denver Post "displayed stunning restraint" by letting the public know about its own triumphs in just one piece.

Well, never mind. The Post devoted an entire page of its suddenly slender Denver and the West section in the March 4 edition to a house ad featuring pictures of prize winners and copy nearly as good at gushing as Old Faithful. Clearly, restraint no longer applies. -- Michael Roberts
