Would You Shoot A Man Based On His Race?

shootersgame.jpg

Jared Jacang Maher's April 3 feature, "Target Practice Racism and Police Shootings Are No Game," profiles a new video game system created at the University of Chicago that Denver cops have used to determine whether officers are more are less likely than your average Joe to shoot someone based on the color of their skin. To find out the answer to that question, be sure to read the story, but you can find out how likely you are to holster your weapon with this online simulation of the game here. You may be surprised at the results. And once you've done that, if you want to find out if you're a racist or just trigger happy in general, take this associative test to determine just how color blind you are. Whether the two exercises give you a newfound pride in your eye for diversity or a guilt complex over prejudices you might not have known were there, I'm sure you'll be glad you weren't using live ammo for the tests.
