Shmuck of the Week

icecreamtruck.jpg

Ahh, the ice cream truck, symbol of summer, fun and youth, merrily chugging at two miles per hour, bringing joy and cold desserts to masses of neighborhood kids.

Bomb pops, fudgecicles, drumsticks, orange dream bars.

Ahh, the ice cream truck, symbol of terror, injury and irresponsibility, evilly rumbling through the neighborhood, running over kids and coldly speeding away.

On Wednesday evening, an ice cream truck driver was cruising Kalispell Street in Green Valley Ranch when two girls who were skating alongside it grabbed on, according to news reports. One, an eleven year old, fell and the truck ran over her arm, sending her to the hospital. Witnesses told police that the driver got out, looked at the girl, got back in and drove away.

On Friday, 21-year-old Adan Bashi turned himself into police, admitting he was the driver. He will likely be charged with failing to report an accident and failing to render aid. Oh, and of being a Shmuck.
