Less Gas, More Ass

Former Westword photographer Brett Amole, son of late Rocky Mountain News scribe Gene Amole, got some nice media exposure when CNN ran a KUSA local TV news story about Boulder’s June 14 naked bike ride.

The daytime jaunt, part of World Naked Bike Ride — , or World Naked Bike Day, which is held in seventy cities in twenty countries — was created to encourage people to use their bikes, especially now that gas prices are so high and the world is so dependent on oil: “Less Gas, More Ass,” as the slogan goes.

Amole, dressed only in a Statue of Liberty hat, an American-flag loincloth and his camera, told the TV news reporter that the riders got a great reception. “We’re a gentle protest,” he said. “We’re a fun protest, but the message is very real.”

Denver’s own version of the event will ride into town on July 12. To see the naked truth on last year’s ride, click here.
