Beyond the Music

At the Mile High Music Festival this weekend and the YarmonyGrass Music Festival at Copper Mountain (August 15 through 17), there will be music -- lots of it -- vendors and food. And if you can spare a thought for people who can't afford to purchase food while you're noshing on your festival fare, then do the right thing and bring a donation of non-perishable food or canned goods along with you.
Because here's the best part: Whole Foods Market (partnering with Conscious Alliance, a Boulder-based non-profit organization dedicated to food donation) is matching the amount of food collected throughout both festivals, and the food will then be donated to Food Bank of the Rockies (from the Mile High Music Festival) and the Summit Foundation (from the YarmonyGrass Festival).
Check out the Guinness World Record-breaking can sculpture (pictured) created from food collected at the ROTHBURY Festival in Michigan earlier this month; it was made from more than 45,000 cans. So head out for some summertime festival fun -- but look through your pantry first. -- Amber Taufen
