Democratic National Convention In-Security

So the Denver Police department wants the force in Colorado Springs to provide 58 officers for the Democratic National Convention.

Yeah, that'll do it. Rest easy -- at least until the convention itself, when the cops will have their hands full even if the masses are well behaved. And if they're not?

Say what you'd like about the American Civil Liberties Union and its assorted court filings over convention-related matters -- Mayor John Hickenlooper certainly has. But the ACLU's suit over security-related expenses reflects growing concern among the public at large that the powers that be aren't sharing enough information with us about how they plan to keep the peace even as the scope of planned events is growing like the gelatinous goo in an old Steve McQueen movie.

Now that presumptive Democratic presidential nominee plans to make his acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High, the degree of difficult has gone up exponentially. And borrowing fifty-eight cops from Colorado Springs doesn't change the equation. -- Michael Roberts
