While the normal folks among you were sleeping, Jayson Nix, who's in the Colorado Rockies minor league system after starting the season with the parent club, experienced the agony and the ecstasy of Olympic competition.

During an August 15 contest against Cuba, he stroked a home run in the eighth inning to tie the game 3-3. But in a subsequent at-bat, a bunt attempt sent the ball into his eye socket. Looks like the injury isn't that serious -- but the U.S. squad lost the game 5-4 in extra innings. Nix on anything else like that, Jayson. -- Michael Roberts
