Ron Judish to Launch New Gallery

In the 1990s, Ron Judish ran one of the best galleries Denver has ever known, Ron Judish Fine Arts. He first opened his eponymous operation in LoDo and then founded a successor in Highland, before economic conditions forced him into an early retirement. During the last few years, he’s had a second career as a private art dealer working out of his north Denver loft. But even though he was still in the art business, the community was denied his aesthetic vision in the form of the first-rate art shows he used to put on.

Happily, after his long hiatus from the commercial gallery scene, Judish has just announced that in collaboration with Andrew Kalmar, he’ll be opening a brand-new gallery to be known simply by the letter "T."

The debut will come on an as-of-yet unannounced date in the late fall at a recently rehabbed building at 878 Santa Fe Drive (pictured). This location, in the heart of the art district, is right across Santa Fe from the Museo de las Américas and directly across Ninth Avenue from the Spark and Core galleries.

T will be similar to Judish’s former galleries in that he’ll combine the work of top international, national and regional artists and exhibit them side by side. Unlike Judish’s earlier effort, however, T will also host significant works from the secondary market -- that is, pieces consigned by collectors. This high-flying category is among the most lucrative and fast-growing aspects of the art-selling business. and T will be one of the few galleries in Denver to offer merchandise of this type.

It will definitely be great to have Judish’s guiding-eye as part of the mix again, presenting the kind of impressive attractions that earned him the hard-won respect of most of the exhibition-going public the last time around.
