Lance Armstrong's Colorado girlfriend is pregnant...without sperm doping!
Is there anything Lance Armstrong can't do? Not only has the 37-year-old cyclist won the Tour de France a gazillion times, but now CNN is reporting that his steady girlfriend, Anna Hansen, is pregnant without the involvement of medical fertility procedures.
Quite a feat for the testicular cancer survivor who had to freeze his sperm to have three children with his now-ex-wife via artificial insemination. In contrast to the celebrities Armstrong has dated since his 2003 divorce - including Sheryl Crow, fashion designer Tory Burch, one of the Olsen twinlets, and Kate Hudson - the 28-year-old Hansen is a competitive mountain biker who grew up in Fort Collins and works for a nonprofit.
Armstrong had come to the Rockies last year to take on the Leadville 100 mountain bike race. Hansen is a program manager and recruiter for First Descents, a Vail-based organization that provides outdoor adventure experiences for young adults with cancer.
According to the First Descents website:
As a Colorado native, Anna loves nothing more than being outdoors, and Vail provides the perfect setting for her favorite activities, mountain biking and snowboarding. Anna graduated with a degree in Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has been a volunteer at the Children's Hospital in Denver and serves on the board of directors for Camp Wapiyapi, a foundation providing hope and support for families with childhood cancer. Combining her passion for the outdoors with helping those fighting cancer makes First Descents the perfect job for Anna.
Armstrong has tried to shield his relationship with Hansen from the spotlight, which has shone much brighter since his announcement that he would again seek to win the Tour de France under a strict drug-testing program.
Word from the Colorado rumor mill is that he is currently training for his comeback at his Austin, Texas, headquarters, and that Hansen (who is nearing her second trimester) is traveling with him. Go, superbaby, go! - Jared Jacang Maher
