Rocky Mountain PBS hires new CEO

Rocky Mountain PBS said Tuesday it has hired Doug Price as its new president and chief executive officer. He replaces James Morgese, who explained to Westword's Michael Roberts in August why he was leaving the public television service after fifteen years.

A former top executive with First Bank of Colorado and co-founder of Educare Colorado, a non-profit organization focused on early child care, Price starts work on January 5, just a month before the station converts to digital broadcasts.

The station, Channel 6, claims more than a million viewers each week.

"Rocky Mountain PBS will succeed only with engagement of our Colorado communities. It is essential to lead the organization, not as an alternative to commercial television but as something distinct and unique," Price said in a written press release.
