Introducing Kenny Be's Yard Arteology
Editor's note: Beginning today, The Latest Word will feature a daily contribution from esteemed cartoonist and man-about-town Kenny Be. This inaugural effort kicks off a series he's dubbed "Yard Arteology," in which he'll spotlight photos he's taken around the city along with his distinctive arteological commentary.

This grouping represents the highest manifestation of outdoor ornamentation. The sophisticated artistry confirms that these were special-order items and not merely purchased at the Home Depot. Their placement at the double stairway suggests that the home's owner is a vain woman who uses ornamentation wisely to mask her lack of beauty. They bring her the attention she craves in her pursuit for social acceptance. Placing the figures to all gaze stoically in the same direction implies that the home owner is a determined eccentric who has quite possibly watched a great ocean liner sink into the icy black sea from a survivor's lifeboat. The white arrow pointing to the word "Museum" indicates the direction to the front door of the Molly Brown House Museum. -- Kenny Be
