Today's Night & Day featured event: Joshua Hassel sheds a Ray of light at Dazzle

Categories: Things to Do

A true veteran of the Denver arts scene, Joshua Hassel's done time as a professional gallerist, curator, art historian and video producer/director. But every hat he's worn has hung on his reputation as an indefatigable local arts booster. When he isn't touting someone's works in a gallery, he's making videos and documentaries about artists he admires, and we should all be so lucky to have someone like Hassel on our side.

Hassel's also a slam-dunk choice for guest at Dazzle's monthly First Monday Art Talk event hosted by Eric Matelski. His experience and bottomless enthusiasm for what he does (and has done for decades) can't help but light a fire under anyone who's listening. Open your ears then, beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, when Hassel previews and discusses his latest documentary, a portrait of San Francisco painter Rex Ray, whose works will be displayed at MCA Denver and Gallery T this spring.

Admission is free; Dazzle is located at 930 Lincoln Street. For details go to the event's MySpace page or call 303-898-4350. -- Susan Froyd
