Bingo Barn in Northglenn goes into foreclosure
Well, I don't know where the youth soccer teams in Northglenn are going to go to inhale second-hand smoke now that the Bingo Barn has gone into foreclosure. Documents filed with Adams County a few weeks ago show that the company that ran the operation is in the hole to North Valley Bank for $673,223.49.
Ever since taking over the 17,000 square-foot space from Safeway in the Garland Mall at 107th and Washington, the Bingo Barn has been a centerpiece of old Northglenn, with hundreds of fold-out tables, plastic chairs and the requisite tracheotomy smokers. It was also a symbol of the area's aging demographic and housing stock, a conundrum I examined in the 2006 story "Change of Plans."
The building is vacant now, but I've been told that from the parking lot you can still hear the ghostly sounds of old ladies pounding their ink stampers. Creepy.
