Kenny Be's Worst-Case Scenario: Today is Pork Meadows Mall Appreciation Day!

According to the official 2009 City of Lone Tree calendar, February 19 is the official Park Meadows Mall Appreciation Day. Since December of last year, when the owners started threatening to declare bankruptcy if they could not renegotiate some $27 billion worth of loans with Goldman Sachs, the mall has needed lots and lots of appreciation. As much as I would love to show my appreciation with numerous trendy purchases at fashionable boutiques, it may be more fitting to re-honor the retail resort by rerunning portions of my August 29, 1996 feature. This little piggy went to market and found a Retail Resnort!
So what if I had to pass two or three nearly vacant malls to get here? This is corporate American consumerism wrapped in all of its Colorado cutesiest. It's like a great mountain lodge, only this time Colorado has been completely paved over and all of the scenery is inside! It took some getting used to, but I found it was no greater an illusion than Douglas County's water supply.
