Is Ward Churchill sneaking cigs in the Denver County Courthouse men's room?

Got a light, Lil' Eichmann?
Trials can be really stressful, with all the argumentation and whatnot. Though Ward Churchill's wrongful-termination lawsuit against the University of Colorado has seemed less bombastic than perhaps the drum-beaters might have preferred, no one would blame the chain-smoking professor for grabbing a few puffs during recess to calm the ol' nerves.
So what are we to make of the reports from two separate Denver County Courthouse employees who tell Westword they've spotted Churchill sneaking ciggies in men's restroom stalls?
The prof's loyal supporters have already accused this newspaper of being journalistically biased against his smoking habit, so perhaps we should recuse ourselves from this important debate. So what do you think?
Is it yet another example of a man who disregards rules of ethics in pursuit of his own gain? Or is it a further showcase of a proud intellectual using his "academic freedom" to subvert the oppressive status quo -- in this case, the city's anti-smoking ordinance?
The trial continues next week. Will more of America's true second-class-citizen smokers join Churchill in his little boys' room protest? Freeeedoo -- cough, cough, hack. Ahem. Freedoomm!

laws are made for everyone to follow.. just because his name is ward churchill does not exclude him from obeying them like the rest of colorado citizens. where is the enforcement in a court house? seems to me its a little lax.
Posted On: Friday, Mar. 27 2009 @ 3:49PMAm I the only one that would find it hilarious if he won his wrongful termination suit, but got arrested for smoking in a government building?
Posted On: Friday, Mar. 27 2009 @ 3:52PMNo one's accused you idiots of being "biased against his smoking habit". What I accused you of was what I've always accused Westword of: being fucking irrelevant. Michael Roberts extols Race to the Bottom to the high fucking heavens for being an actually unbiased source of information on the Churchill case, and laments Denver’s paucity of like sources, ignoring the fact that his own paper’s asshole coverage exactly typifies the problem with Denver’s news media as a whole.
You’re supposed to be the alternative media around here. But the shit you’ve offered on this case is a series of lame cartoons and this kind of weak cowtown Gawker knockoff. One would think with DeShell as a tutor, you might’ve at least learned to come up with something vaguely fucking interesting. Instead, you’re on about, like, who smokes cigarettes, and who doesn’t. Here’s an idea, if you’ve got journalists covering the trial, whyn’t you actually act like a real alternative media source, and fucking report on it? At this point your rag is like reading my Midwestern grandmother’s diary after an episode of Entertainment Tonight. It’s a fucking Penny Parker column without the wit.
Ward's cigarettes have definitely come home to roost.
Smokety smoke smoke
Posted On: Saturday, Mar. 28 2009 @ 4:18AMDear WART: you look fatter. Retirement and the McD's b'fast special suit you and your cognitive abilities.
But please -- keep smoking three packs a day. It will speed up your ultimate judgment. And you deserve every Marlboro available, for what you've done to serious academia.
Smoke, smoke, that cigarette, WART.
Posted On: Saturday, Mar. 28 2009 @ 4:39AMBenjamin,
Your masterful commenting has shown me the light. Realizing Westword's irrelevance, I will henceforth drop all my efforts to cover actual Denver news to spend my days reporting the most irrelevant trial since the last 3 times Churchill and company were arrested in this town. I'll be the guy in the 3rd stall.

Posted On: Saturday, Mar. 28 2009 @ 9:08AMReally? What “actual Denver news” was it that Westword was about to break? You wanna take a walk through your last month of features? Lessee, one glorified traffic update, one set of inane cartoons, one multipage restaurant review, and one breakdown of a bunch of dipshits who run around in tights. You fuckers don’t do news; that’s kinda my point.
Posted On: Saturday, Mar. 28 2009 @ 10:00AM" .. You fuckers don’t do news; that’s kinda my point."
Benjie the loyal WART dog --
And you and Wart do ...?
Nada. Zip. Nothing. Talkers, not do-ers.
Che ran in the mountains. Wart cries, "I want my job back."
Sorry, Old Phony. You and your $70K/year pension are proof-positive of a taxpayer scam.
Go down to the park and blather at the birds. You deserve them, you faker.
Posted On: Saturday, Mar. 28 2009 @ 10:10AMI'm not a journalist, Hewson, Castle, or whatever the fuck your name is. It's not my job to cover the news. Again, that's my point.
Posted On: Saturday, Mar. 28 2009 @ 10:21AM"Medium" is singular. "Media" is plural. Master's degree, you say.

Dear Slobbering Loyal Wart-Dog Benjie --
What the FUCK is your job, fool? Worshipping a total phony?
Che would be laughing at you and Phony Indian, as he was cutting your throats for your money.
Fool.
Posted On: Saturday, Mar. 28 2009 @ 11:35AMWard what a joke! you know that he has never been anywere other then the united states, but yet he has so much to say about what this country has done to others! I have been all over this world and have helped a lot of poeple even those that do not like us! So I know more then he will ever know about what goes on around the world. And one thing about me is I will not lie to you if it is bad I will tell you so! When I e-mailed him and asked if he has ever seen anything that he has said he told me NO. ...Ward Churchill's experience at sneaking smokes in courthouse men's rooms may come in handy; we've heard (but have been unable to confirm) that he's been subpoenaed as a hostile witness to testify in the Anna Mae Aquash murder trial scheduled to begin May 12 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Posted On: Sunday, Mar. 29 2009 @ 4:01AMBenjie the Slobbering Loyal Dog so funny. He and WART keep chasing their tails -- they hate America so much, they demand to be paid by America for hating America.
Hey Benjie Dog -- Woody Allen has been laughing at your kind since the early 1960s. Getting kind of boring -- go to Cuba. They have a cell, just waiting for you and Wart.

It appears Denver is still populated with the same kind who cheered Chivington's Sand Creek murderers who paraded their Native American victims' body parts around Denver saloons.
Obviously Ward Churchill is more relevant than ever, and Westword represent the desperation of America's holocaust deniers.
It's one thing to be on the wrong side of history, but I do not envy the loudmouths who will be shown to have been the utter fools, in particular if they also behaved rabidly.
Posted On: Sunday, Mar. 29 2009 @ 10:42AMEveryone at Westword is a Nazi!
Everyone in Denver hates indians!!!!
Everyone that disagrees with me is evil and hateful!!
" .. Obviously Ward Churchill is more relevant than ever, and Westword represent the desperation of America's holocaust deniers .."
Dang .. from this --

those who are not slobbering loyal dogs of a Fake & Phony Indian would see that at least 80% of AUTHENTIC Native American Indians think the Fake Indian is a loud, boorish phony.
But .. of course .. BUSH MADE THEM DO IT!! IT IS ALL BUSH'S FAULT! EVERYTHING! FOR THE NEXT 500 YEARS! AIEEE!!!
Posted On: Sunday, Mar. 29 2009 @ 3:02PMSo what's your comment policy, Westword? I seem to have lost one. Just curious as to why.
Posted On: Monday, Mar. 30 2009 @ 9:59AMNevermind. I'm pretty sure I fucked up when I thought I was submitting it. To Westword's credit, I've never known of y'all deleting comments, which is why I thought it was weird.
Posted On: Monday, Mar. 30 2009 @ 10:56AMI'm a newbie, but to all of you, an an elder, there permit me to offer my comments as to the brilliat dialogue that I just read as I scanned Westword's Blog link, searching out info re Ward taking a pull on a Marlboro in the men's room in the courthouse. I think out of the 20 or some of your entries, only about 2 pertained directly to the subject that started the string. I'm of the impression that some of you had taken a toke or two too many when you were leaned over your keyboards. But that's OK with me. That said, if I log back on to the site supported by an august body of journalists, will any of you tell me exactly what the outcome was when Ward was caught smoking in the boy room? Thanks in advance.
Posted On: Tuesday, Apr. 7 2009 @ 7:59PMRollo,
From what I understand from all my in-depth reporting, Ward Churchill was given a one dollar bill to never show his face in Denver again. Hope that helps.
