Businesswomen, meet other businesswomen

Thanks to our ongoing recession, businesses are under increasing pressure to merge with similar firms or even rivals -- and it turns out that business organizations are feeling the heat, too. Note that the National Association of Women Business Owners' Denver chapter, which has suffered of late from membership declines and revenue shortfalls, voted to dissolve earlier this month, with its remaining loyalists being welcomed by the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce.

To help ease this transition, the CWCC is staging a mixer at 6 p.m. tonight at JohnstonWells Public Relations, 1321 15th Street, so that women from the groups can meet and connect. It's not free: Members pay $10, while non-members must pony up $15. (Get more info by phoning 303-458-0220 or by visiting the CWCC's website linked above.) But that's par for the course these days. Or had you forgotten that the economy sucks?
