They're ain't no party like a pro-pot party

Sticky. Icky.

This Saturday, the drug policy reform group Sensible Colorado is throwing its free-to-the-public fifth-anniversary bash from 6-9 p.m. at the Atlantis Community Center, 201 South Cherokee Street -- and these guys have a lot to celebrate. Three years ago, Sensible Colorado helped successfully lobby for the passage of Amendment 20, which made Colorado one of the first states in the nation to allow for medical marijuana. Then the group was instrumental in abolishing state-imposed limits on the number of patients each caregiver is allowed to provide pot for, thereby helping to launch a medical-dispensary industry across the state that's now second only to ganja Mecca California.

And lately, SC seem to have found a true bong buddy in ol' President Obama. First, the cool cat said the feds would stop raiding medical marijuana dispensaries in states like Colorado. Then last week, his new drug czar Gil Kerlikowske -- formerly police chief of pot-happy Seattle -- said it was time to end the whole concept of "the war on drugs."

In other words, it's time to party! Woo-hoo! I'm gonna be at that Sensible Colorado shindig puffing on the biggest, fattest... What did you say? The anniversary party is a non-smoking event? Man, what a buzzkill.
