Mile High Murder, No. 16: Eugene Velarde shot and killed at intersection of 17th and Sheridan

Another body -- this one identified moments ago by the Denver Coroner's office as Eugene Velarde, 25, who died of multiple gunshot wounds near the intersection of 17th Avenue and W. Sheridan Boulevard, an area captured in the graphic above (if you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map"). Read the brief release from the coroner after the jump.
On June 10, 2009 Eugene Velarde, age 25, from Lakewood was transported to St. Anthony Hospital from the vicinity of 17th Avenue and Sheridan Blvd. He was pronounced dead at 6:44 p.m. An autopsy has been completed at the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. The cause of death is multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide. Requests for an autopsy report when it is completed can be made via email. All questions should be directed to the Denver Police Department.
