Mile High Murder, No. 17: Joseph Lee Jiles identified as victim in June 17 shooting on Xanadu Street

Last week, Velma Lee Gilbert was arrested in connection with a homicide on the 1300 block of Xanadu Street, an area captured in a graphic embedded after the jump (if you have problems seeing the image, click "View Larger Map"). Now, the Aurora Police Department has identified the victim: Jospeh Lee Jiles, twenty. The department's brief release, along with a more detailed one that preceded it just over a week ago, can be found below as well.

Aurora, Colo.- Aurora Police are identifying the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on June 17, 2009 in the 1300 block of Xanadu Street as Joseph Lee Jiles, DOB: 4/30/1989, of Aurora.

On June 17, 2009 at about 12:40 pm, officers were called to the 1300 block of Xanadu Street on the report of a dispute and subsequent shooting.
Responding officers located an adult male who was shot in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead at approximately 7:40 PM this evening. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Major Crime Unit Detectives have arrested:
Velma Lee Gilbert, DOB 8-27-60 of Denver. She will be held in the Arapahoe County Jail pending a 1st Degree Murder Charge. Gilbert is being held without bond at this time.
Detectives continue their investigation into the cause of the shooting as well as the relationships of the parties involved.
There are no anticipated updates prior to mid-day tomorrow.
