Colorado Crimes: A badass mother-daughter tag team
That old saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree"? It's appropriate in the case of Julia Martinez and Monica Guardado, if a little too quaint -- especially given that weapons are involved.

According to the Denver District Attorney's Office, which has charged both women with assault, Guardado, 21, got into an argument with a family member on July 28 -- and when the spat reached an impasse, she called her mother, Martinez, 40, who brought a knife with her. From there, the indictment says, mom used her blade on the victim, while her little girl opted for a pipe. Awwwww....

TWO WOMEN CHARGED IN ASSAULT OF FAMILY MEMBERDenver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey has formally charged a 21-year-old woman and her 40-year-old mother accused of assaulting a family member on July 28, 2009.
Monica Guardado (dob: 9-18-87) is charged with one count of assault in the first degree (F3).
Julia Martinez (dob: 5-31-70) is charged with one count of assault in the second degree (F4).
The charges allege that Guardado and the victim were involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation in the 2300 block of Cleveland Place on July 28, 2009 and that Guardado called her mother, Martinez, who arrived on the scene with a knife. The charges further allege that Guardado assaulted the victim with a pipe while Martinez stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife.
Both Guardado and Martinez remain in custody; their bonds have each been set at $35,000. They are scheduled to appear as co-defendants in Denver County Court, room 12T, on August 6, 2009 at 9 a.m. to be advised of the charges.
