Three possible futures for Denver International Airport

Republic Airways Holdings' victory over Dallas-based Southwest Airlines in the Frontier sweepstakes raises more questions than it answers, as Dallas Morning News airline blogger Eric Torbenson makes clear in "What Will Denver Look Like in Two Years?," an analysis published earlier today. In Torbenson's view, United Airlines may not survive the current turbulence in the airline industry, and even if it does, it could make significant changes to its Denver operation. Likewise, Southwest may either choose to back off from full-scale competition at Denver International Airport (where, frankly, Frontier has been kicking its ass) or else seek to destroy the carrier in an act of fiscal vengeance. And while he's not certain how everything will shake out, he's sure of one thing: Consumers flying from Dallas to Denver -- or, presumably, vice versa -- will never have to pay more than $100 each way if they book in advance. "It's great news for fliers," he declares.

Your mouth to the airline execs' ears.
