The YouTube video above isn't wholly accurate. Although DeGette's online schedule proves she's now meeting the people about healthcare, the clip insists she only does teleconferences, because the method allows callers to be screened (he got past the blockade by saying he wanted to discuss something else). But he's right that the Federal Reserve Transparency Act has been widely covered; its Wikipedia page features 52 linked articles, and there are plenty more where those came from. DeGette's ignorance of it doesn't constitute her best moment.
And her staff was probably most concerned about dealing with angry anti-reformists....
DeGette was elected illegally -- she was not born in the U.S.A.!!! Check it out on her official website -- she was born in Japan. It's time to file a lawsuit, run a clean election, and get a legitimate Congressman in office. If we can stop the voter intimidation and the illegal voting, We The People will win that seat in a landslide. I hope George Lilly will run again in 2010. We love you, George, a true defender of liberty!!!
Westword -- stop the media boycott of Prof. Carlton Quinn's article on the 2008 election and how the illegals put Obama in the WH and his cronies in the House!
Quinn's analysis shows that, without illegals, Lilly would have beaten DeGette by 7.43 points, based on Census data and the Talmey poll results.
If you don't believe me, look it up!
Build the wall! No more sanctuary cities! Ken Buck for the Senate!
I read somewhere that, in the last election, DeGette received $2,756,000 in donations from Goldman Sachs. My neighbor told me about the high-dollar fundraiser dinner Greenspan, Bernanke, and Geithner threw for DeGette at Greenspan's home in Georgetown last October 7.
She's got some 'splainin' to do.
Everywhere I go in Denver, the one issue I hear people discussing is HR-1207. It is clearly the most important issue this year.
I had to respond to that last comment. On election day, I was helping drive George Lilly supporters to the polls in Windsor Gardens. At each voting location, big guys with "SEIU" and "ACORN" shirts standing at the entrance blocked our supporters from going into the building to vote. Our elderly friends were too intimidated to cast their ballots. Mary Lou Caufield, who is 85, broke down in tears because she could not vote for McCain and Lilly.
Then we saw a busload of Spanish-speaking guys drive up. The "ACORN" guy handed each of these people a twenty and escorted them to the polls, and gave me a very dirty look.
I called the voter protection phone number that day, but someone answered it "Obama for President!" Some good that call would do to protect our voting rights.
That's how Democrats win in a Republican district!
I don't live in her District. If I did I would send her this email
To Congresswoman Diana DeGette, State of Colorado First District Representative
Congresswoman DeGette, recent polls show that 75 to 80 percent of the American people want the Federal Reserve audited. Your town hall phone interview stating you had no knowledge of HR-1207 floored me. I have been getting emails and phone calls from my friends and relatives in your District and I think that statement was a HUGE mistake. I think you might want to consider cosponsoring HR-1207 or you may be disappointed with the results of your next trip to the polls. There is a large group of us who have been watching the LEADERS in Congress and the Senate do everything they can to keep HR-1207 and S-604 in committee hoping they will die there or be modified to be powerless to effect a real audit. This is not the will of the American majority. Keeping HR-1207 and S- 604 from being brought to a vote as written is in direct conflict with the desire of the American people. When I heard the Fed had not been audited for it's whole existence, I was in shock. Almost everyone I talk with thinks Alan Greenspan was sold out to special interests and completely out of touch with the middle class majority. We also think Henry Paulson pulled a lot of illegal actions when he was the Sec. Treas. Try a 700 million dollar conflict of interest with Goldman Sachs for starters. Now we have Bernanke and Geithner in powerful positions. It's beginning to look like the Goldman Sachs syndicate has complete control of the American Government. The American People deserve better from what is supposed to be a Democratic Government. We want to know why we are in this economic mess and where our trillions of dollars are going. Auditing the Federal Reserve is a good place to start and bringing HR-1207 and S-604 to a vote as written is the first step. We ask you to take that step and support HR-1207 Congresswoman DeGette. 282 of your fellow Representatives already have. Thank you for your time.

People all over the First District of Colorado support Ron Paul's political philosophy and oppose Obamacare. When I attended forums with George Lilly last November, it was clear he had overwhelming support and would take the Congressional seat by a landslide. I can't imagine how a liberal like DeGette could ever win in Denver.
Westword should investigate whether DeGette's union thug "volunteers" stuffed the ballot boxes.
Yep, are you saying she really IS dumb? Maybe so. I worked for her opponent this last election cycle and encountered a great deal of people from all over the political spectrum very disillusioned and upset with her. It makes me wonder how she continues to win elections.
Yea she is lying if she has not heard of HR 1207. Im sick of these political games when it comes to such a serious issue. This woman is not representing the peoples interest she is only out for herself..
Shame on her.
I don't think she's "playing" dumb. How long has she held this seat and what has she accomplished?
Diana DeGette is lying, plain and simple. She knows full well what H.R. 1207 is and has no intention of ever co-sponsoring it. The reason she was playing dumb was because she knows how popular this piece of legislation is and she's afraid to admit she's against it.
Thanks Westword for covering this story and the subterfuge of our elected official.
Dian DeGette, Democrat colleagues such as Polis have signed on. Please get on board the HR1207 transparency movement!
How can Diana DeGette claim to have not heard anything about H.R. 1207?
The Campaign For Liberty website shows a response from the Congresswoman to a concerned citizen regarding his concerns over H.R.1207.
Either the Congresswoman didn't want to talk about the subject (and lied about her knowledge of the bill) or her staff has been 'ghost-writing' her responses to constituents.
