Feeling the power of ColoradoPols
Locals who want to know the latest political scoop know they'll find it first at ColoradoPols.com, a website whose power and reach is obvious even when the information it passes along doesn't pan out. Case in point -- rumors that Colorado Republic Party head Dick Wadhams might be leaving that post in order to become campaign manager for Sue Lowden, who's likely to target U.S. Senate majority leader Harry Reid of Nevada. Shortly after ColoradoPols posted an item on this subject, Wadhams was forced to respond in an e-mail picked up first by conservative blogger Joshua Sharf and later by the Associated Press.

Not all of ColoradoPols' items result from overhearing backroom whispers. For instance, news that Colorado gubernatorial hopeful Scott McInnis has hired George Culpepper to serve as his campaign manager was picked up from an e-mail blast. (McInnis also posted this info on his Facebook page and campaign website.) Still, with the resources of news organizations seemingly growing thinner on a daily basis, the army of ColoradoPols contributors provides an invaluable service, whether or not every tidbit's on the mark.
