ProgressNow Colorado's Michael Huttner will go just about anywhere to pimp 50 Ways You Can Help Obama Change America, a new book he co-wrote with former Rocky Mountain News media writer Jason Salzman -- including Fox News. He didn't emerge from his appearance opposite Neil Cavuto unscathed, however. Huttner twice dodged a direct question about whether or not wait times for health care will lengthen enormously if millions of new patients enter the system, either because he didn't have a good answer, or because he was absolutely committed to sticking to his talking points. In addition, he failed to nail Cavuto when the latter suggested that a hefty percentage of uninsured Americans have opted out by choice, including young people "who think they're bulletproof" and illegal immigrants. Still, he deserves props for even venturing into the Fox's den -- a place many liberals refuse to tread. Judge for yourself how he did by watching the video above.
The chances are good that someone opposed to Obamas health care plan have never experienced the nightmare of a major medical illness or injury under the system that has emerged over the past decade managed by insurance companies.
I recently had such an experience. I checked into the emergency room with bleeding between my brain and skull, and was put into the Intensive Care Unit. Less than two days later, I was out in the street with a dozen staples in my head from brain surgery, a couple of scripts for meds, and a long list of doctors and clinics to call for follow-ups.
I have insurance: over the past 30 years I have paid over $250,000 in medical premiums and $70,000 in copayments (the dreaded pre-existing condition).
Anybody who thinks our health care system doesnt require major overhaul is more mentally impaired than I was the day after brain surgery. The right wing is calling the plan socialized medicine. I argue the system we have now is predatory health care.
He looks like a pussy to me. Sure are a LOT of those around these days. Sad ain't it?
hey dumb,
If fox is an extremist network than Huttner should have fit right in. And bravo on your hyperbolic leap in your second posting.
hey Ken,
only right wingers use terms like "dumbacrats" and "liberal idiot"... real classy and intelligent. how about our government run military? do you think that should be run by private industry? maybe Blackwater should take over for our military, since, by your logic, they don't know how to operate as a government entity.
He did an okay job, but it's tough to win on Fox news, as they're run by absolute extremist, lying freaks, who slant everything in the extreme conservative direction. the lot of em.
Oh, so we are going to get a trip to see the manger where the Messiah was born? I am not a "right winger" but I am FAR from being a liberal idiot either. This health care plan that the administration and the Dumbacrats in congress are trying to force down our throats is ill conceived. In the '90's, the Mustang Ranch was seized for tax evasion and the Government tried to run it, but it went broke. Do you want your health care administered by the same nitwits that ran a formally very successful whorehouse into the ground?
The headline should read: Fox News subjects itself to ProgressNow's Michael the Hutt.
