No need to call the fire department about that house fire in Lakewood -- because they set it
A Flickr photo Don't be alarmed. Everything is under control.
I sense that sometime this afternoon, a vacant house near 14th and Wadsworth in Lakewood will burst into flame. I base this prediction on intuition, cosmic vibrations and an announcement from West Metro Fire Fighters that they'll be conducting training exercises in the area from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today and most of the day tomorrow if the weather cooperates (which it probably won't, unless every forecaster in the city is wrong -- certainly a possibility). Get the details below:
West Metro Fire Rescue will be conducting training fires today and tomorrow in Lakewood
West Metro Fire Fighters will be conducting live fire training in a vacant home in the area of 14th and Wadsworth in Lakewood (7540 W. 14th Avenue) today, Tuesday, October 27 and tomorrow, Wednesday, October 28. Today's burn will begin at 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Evening rush hour traffic may experience delays as a result of curiosity slowing and smoke. Tomorrow's burn, weather dependent, will begin at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Again, traffic in the area may experience delays as a result of curiosity slowing and smoke. The fires will be part of a training exercise for West Metro Fire Fighters to learn and practice fire fighting techniques.
While the fires will be small, people in the areas can expect to see smoke, fire and emergency vehicles in the area. These fires are part of the exercise, but as always, if there is any questions about whether a spotted fire is part of the drill or real, call 911.
