Neither Norman Bates nor his mother matches the cops' descriptions.
Yesterday morning, a woman was stabbed at an RTD bus stop near the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Winona Street -- and as the Denver Police Department notes, this isn't exactly the first time something like this has happened.

Three other stabbing incidents took place along the West Colfax corridor in April and May, with one of them occurring at a bus stop that sounds very much like the one above.

The description in the trio of early attacks isn't identical to the one from yesterday -- an African-American male of medium build and short hair in the springtime, a stocky Hispanic or light-skinned African American male with long, curly hair more recently. Then again, the DPD doesn't appear to be ruling out the possibility that a serial stabber has returned. Connect the dots using the information below:

On November12, 2009, at approximately 10:45 AM, a female victim was stabbed with a sharp object while waiting at the RTD bus stop located at West Colfax Avenue and Winona Street. The unknown suspect is described as a Hispanic or light skin black male, 25-30 years of age, stocky build, with longer-curly hair and possibly wearing a hat or bandana. The suspect was wearing a Turquoise, or light green shirt. The suspect was last seen running south bound from the 4600 block of West Colfax Avenue. immediately after the assault. The victim was transported to Denver Health Medical Center where she was treated for nonlife threatening injuries.

The Denver Police Department is asking the public to be alert along the West Colfax Corridor, especially at RTD bus stops, and to report any suspicious persons or activities in this area to the Police immediately. Also anyone with information in relation to these previous incidents is asked to call Crime Stopper at 720-913-STOP (7867)

Previous Release June 1, 2009

The Denver Police Department is currently investigating three aggravated assault cases that are believed to be related. All three incidents occurred along the West Colfax Corridor from Irving Street to Wolff Street, during the past two months. The incidents have occurred between 10:00 a.m. and 12: 00 p.m. and have a similarly described suspect that attacks his victims with a sharpened object or knife.

The first incident happened on April 6, 2009 between 10:20 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the northwest corner of West Colfax Avenue and North Irving Street.

The second incident occurred on May 4, 2009 at approximately 9:45 a.m. while the victim was standing at the Vrain / Winona bus stop on Colfax waiting for the RTD.

The third incident was on May 30, 2009 at approximately 11:00 a.m. while the victim was walking eastbound on the south side of W. Colfax at about Wolff Street.

In two of the three cases the victims sustained minor injuries but the Denver Police still consider these incidents and the suspect extremely dangerous.

The suspect is described as a black male 5'09" to 6' tall, medium build with short hair.

The Denver Police Department is asking the public to be alert along the West Colfax Corridor, especially at RTD bus stops, and to report any suspicious persons or activities in this area to the Police immediately.
