Union Station gets the Ken Burns treatment

Denver Union Station: Portal to Progress - Trailer from Havey Productions on Vimeo.

As plans move forward to transform Denver Union Station into a modern transit hub, folks want to make sure the old depot's past doesn't get left behind. The latest effort is a new documentary called Denver Union Station: Portal to Progress, the trailer for which can be seen above. Produced by Jim Havey, who's made local documentaries on everything from Molly Brown to Colfax, the film will premier on February 5 at Colorado Preservation Inc.'s 2010 Saving Places Conference.

All those poignant photos, swelling strings and impassioned (and yes, at times hokey) commentators make us want to hop the next express to Chicago. Sure, the special effects aren't at the same level as, say, Robert Emmerich's 2012, but five bucks says the acting's better.
